CXSD61038 can operate over a wide input voltage range from 2.3V to 5.5V and
integrate main switch and synchronous switch with very low RDS(ON) to minimize

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONLs0嘉泰姆

CXSD61038 is a synchronous buck regulator IC that integrates the PWM/PFM control, topLs0嘉泰姆
and bottom switches on the same die to minimize the switching transition loss andLs0嘉泰姆
conduction loss. With ultra low RDS(ON) power switches and proprietary PWM control,Ls0嘉泰姆
this regulator IC can achieve the highest efficiency and the highest switch frequencyLs0嘉泰姆
simultaneously to minimize the external inductor and capacitor size, and thusLs0嘉泰姆
achieving the minimum solution footprint.The CXSD61038 requires only three externalLs0嘉泰姆
power components (Cin, Cout and L). Theadjustable version can be programmedLs0嘉泰姆
with external feedback to any voltage,ranging from 0.6V to the input voltage.Ls0嘉泰姆
At dropout, the converter duty cycle increases to 100% and the output voltageLs0嘉泰姆
tracks the input voltage minus the Rdson drop of the high-side MOSFET.Ls0嘉泰姆
The internal error amplifier and compensation provides excellent transient response, load,Ls0嘉泰姆
and line regulation. Soft start function prevents input inrush current and outputLs0嘉泰姆
overshoot during start up.Ls0嘉泰姆
Inductor SelectionLs0嘉泰姆
For most designs, the CXSD61038 operates with inductors of 1μH to 4.7μH. Low inductanceLs0嘉泰姆
values are physically smaller but require faster switching, which results in some efficiency loss.Ls0嘉泰姆
The inductor value can be derived from the following equation:Ls0嘉泰姆
L =VIN × ∆I L × f OSC Ls0嘉泰姆
Where ∆I L is inductor Ripple Current. Large value inductors result in lower ripple current andLs0嘉泰姆
small value inductors result in high ripple current. For optimum voltage-positioning loadLs0嘉泰姆
transients, choose an inductor with DC series resistance in the 50mΩ to 150mΩ range.Ls0嘉泰姆
Input Capacitor SelectionLs0嘉泰姆
With the maximum load current at 1.5A, the maximum ripple current through input capacitorLs0嘉泰姆
is about 0.6Arms. A typical X7R or better grade ceramic capacitor with 6V rating and greaterLs0嘉泰姆
than 10uF capacitance can handle this ripple current well. To minimize the potential noiseLs0嘉泰姆
problem, place this ceramic capacitor really close to the IN andLs0嘉泰姆
GND pins. Care should be taken to minimizethe loop area formed by CIN, and IN/GND pins. Ls0嘉泰姆
Output Capacitor Selection Ls0嘉泰姆
The output capacitor is required to keep the output voltage ripple small and to ensureLs0嘉泰姆
regulation loop stability. The output capacitor must have low impedance at the switchingLs0嘉泰姆
frequency. Ceramic capacitors with X5R or X7R dielectrics are recommended due to their lowLs0嘉泰姆
ESR and high ripple current ratings. The outputripple VOUT is determined by:Ls0嘉泰姆

1. The power traces, consisting of the GND trace, the SW trace and the VIN traceshould be kept short,Ls0嘉泰姆
    direct and wide.Ls0嘉泰姆
2. Does the (+) plates of Cin connect to Vin as closely as possible? This capacitor provides the AC currentLs0嘉泰姆
    to the internal power MOSFETs.Ls0嘉泰姆
3. Keep the switching node, SW, away from the sensitive VOUT node.Ls0嘉泰姆
4. Keep the (-) plates of Cin and Cout as close as possibleLs0嘉泰姆
