CXSD61038 can operate over a wide input voltage range from 2.3V to 5.5V and
integrate main switch and synchronous switch with very low RDS(ON) to minimize

      The CXSD61038 are high-efficiency, high frequency synchronous step-downKSf嘉泰姆
DC-DC regulator ICs capable of delivering up to 1.5A output currents. TheCXSD61038 can operate over a wide input voltage range from 2.3V to 5.5V andKSf嘉泰姆

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONKSf嘉泰姆

CXSD61038 is a synchronous buck regulator IC that integrates the PWM/PFM control, topKSf嘉泰姆
and bottom switches on the same die to minimize the switching transition loss andKSf嘉泰姆
conduction loss. With ultra low RDS(ON) power switches and proprietary PWM control,KSf嘉泰姆
this regulator IC can achieve the highest efficiency and the highest switch frequencyKSf嘉泰姆
simultaneously to minimize the external inductor and capacitor size, and thusKSf嘉泰姆
achieving the minimum solution footprint.The CXSD61038 requires only three externalKSf嘉泰姆
power components (Cin, Cout and L). Theadjustable version can be programmedKSf嘉泰姆
with external feedback to any voltage,ranging from 0.6V to the input voltage.KSf嘉泰姆
At dropout, the converter duty cycle increases to 100% and the output voltageKSf嘉泰姆
tracks the input voltage minus the Rdson drop of the high-side MOSFET.KSf嘉泰姆
The internal error amplifier and compensation provides excellent transient response, load,KSf嘉泰姆
and line regulation. Soft start function prevents input inrush current and outputKSf嘉泰姆
overshoot during start up.KSf嘉泰姆
Inductor SelectionKSf嘉泰姆
For most designs, the CXSD61038 operates with inductors of 1μH to 4.7μH. Low inductanceKSf嘉泰姆
values are physically smaller but require faster switching, which results in some efficiency loss.KSf嘉泰姆
The inductor value can be derived from the following equation:KSf嘉泰姆
L =VIN × ∆I L × f OSC KSf嘉泰姆
Where ∆I L is inductor Ripple Current. Large value inductors result in lower ripple current andKSf嘉泰姆
small value inductors result in high ripple current. For optimum voltage-positioning loadKSf嘉泰姆
transients, choose an inductor with DC series resistance in the 50mΩ to 150mΩ range.KSf嘉泰姆
Input Capacitor SelectionKSf嘉泰姆
With the maximum load current at 1.5A, the maximum ripple current through input capacitorKSf嘉泰姆
is about 0.6Arms. A typical X7R or better grade ceramic capacitor with 6V rating and greaterKSf嘉泰姆
than 10uF capacitance can handle this ripple current well. To minimize the potential noiseKSf嘉泰姆
problem, place this ceramic capacitor really close to the IN andKSf嘉泰姆
GND pins. Care should be taken to minimizethe loop area formed by CIN, and IN/GND pins. KSf嘉泰姆
Output Capacitor Selection KSf嘉泰姆
The output capacitor is required to keep the output voltage ripple small and to ensureKSf嘉泰姆
regulation loop stability. The output capacitor must have low impedance at the switchingKSf嘉泰姆
frequency. Ceramic capacitors with X5R or X7R dielectrics are recommended due to their lowKSf嘉泰姆
ESR and high ripple current ratings. The outputripple VOUT is determined by:KSf嘉泰姆

1. The power traces, consisting of the GND trace, the SW trace and the VIN traceshould be kept short,KSf嘉泰姆
    direct and wide.KSf嘉泰姆
2. Does the (+) plates of Cin connect to Vin as closely as possible? This capacitor provides the AC currentKSf嘉泰姆
    to the internal power MOSFETs.KSf嘉泰姆
3. Keep the switching node, SW, away from the sensitive VOUT node.KSf嘉泰姆
4. Keep the (-) plates of Cin and Cout as close as possibleKSf嘉泰姆
