The CXSU63133 is a compact, PFM mode, and step-upTRN嘉泰姆

DC-DC converter with low quiescent current. The inter-TRN嘉泰姆
nal synchronous rectifier reduces cost and PCB spaceTRN嘉泰姆
by eliminating the need for an external Schottky diode.TRN嘉泰姆
Low on-resistance of the internal switches improves theTRN嘉泰姆
efficiency up to 92%. The start-up voltage is guaranteedTRN嘉泰姆
below 1V. After start-up, the device can operate with inputTRN嘉泰姆
voltage down to 0.7V. The CXSU63133 is suitable for por-TRN嘉泰姆
table battery-powered applications. Consuming only 11μATRN嘉泰姆

Inductor SelectionTRN嘉泰姆
The inductor value determines the inductor ripple currentTRN嘉泰姆
and affects the load transient response. It is recom-TRN嘉泰姆
mended to select the boost inductor in order to keep theTRN嘉泰姆
maximum peak inductor current below the current limitTRN嘉泰姆
threshold of the power switch. For example, the currentTRN嘉泰姆
limit threshold of the CXSU63133’s switch is 600mA. ForTRN嘉泰姆
choosing an inductor which has peak current passed,TRN嘉泰姆
firstly, it is necessary to consider the output load (IOUT),TRN嘉泰姆
input (VIN), and output voltage (VOUT). Secondly, the de-TRN嘉泰姆
sired current ripple in the inductor also needed to beTRN嘉泰姆
taken into account. The current was calculated in “OutputTRN嘉泰姆
Capacitor Selection”. Since the output ripple is the prod-TRN嘉泰姆
uct of the peak inductor current and the output capacitorTRN嘉泰姆
ESR, the larger inductor value reduces the inductor cur-TRN嘉泰姆
rent ripple and output voltage ripple but typically offers aTRN嘉泰姆

up. The main switch turns off when the current reachesTRN嘉泰姆
the peak current limit of typical 600mA. The second crite-TRN嘉泰姆
rion that turns off the switch is the maximum on-time ofTRN嘉泰姆
4μs (typical). As the main switch is turned off, the syn-TRN嘉泰姆
chronous switch is turned on and delivers the current toTRN嘉泰姆
the output. The main switch remains off for a minimum ofTRN嘉泰姆
900ns (typical), or until the internal feedback voltage dropsTRN嘉泰姆
below the reference voltage. By the control scheme withTRN嘉泰姆
low quiescent current of 11μA (typical), the converter getsTRN嘉泰姆

Start-UpTRN嘉泰姆
A startup oscillator circuit is integrated in the CXSU63133.TRN嘉泰姆
When the power is applied to the device, the circuit pumpsTRN嘉泰姆
the output voltage high. Once the output voltage reachesTRN嘉泰姆
1.4V (typ), the main DC-DC circuitry turns on and boostsTRN嘉泰姆
the output voltage to the final regulation point.TRN嘉泰姆
Synchronous RectificationTRN嘉泰姆
The internal synchronous rectifier eliminates the needTRN嘉泰姆
for an external Schottky diode, thus, reducing cost andTRN嘉泰姆
board space. During the cycle off-time, the P-channelTRN嘉泰姆
MOSFET turns on and shunts the MOSFET body diode.TRN嘉泰姆
As a result, the synchronous rectifier significantly improvesTRN嘉泰姆
efficiency without the addition of an external component.TRN嘉泰姆
Conversion efficiency can be as high as 92%. TRN嘉泰姆
Over-Temperature ProtectionTRN嘉泰姆
The over-temperature circuit limits the junction tempera-TRN嘉泰姆
ture of the CXSU63133. When the junction temperature ex-TRN嘉泰姆
ceeds 150°C, a thermal sensor turns off the powerTRN嘉泰姆
MOSFETs, allowing the devices to cool. The thermal sen-TRN嘉泰姆
sor allows the converter to start a start-up process andTRN嘉泰姆
regulate the output voltage again after the junction tem-TRN嘉泰姆
perature cools by 40°C. The OTP is designed with a 40°CTRN嘉泰姆
hysteresis to lower the average TJ during continuous ther-TRN嘉泰姆
mal overload conditions, increasing lifetime of the device.TRN嘉泰姆
