The CXSU63133 is a compact, PFM mode, and step-upAqD嘉泰姆

DC-DC converter with low quiescent current. The inter-AqD嘉泰姆
nal synchronous rectifier reduces cost and PCB spaceAqD嘉泰姆
by eliminating the need for an external Schottky diode.AqD嘉泰姆
Low on-resistance of the internal switches improves theAqD嘉泰姆
efficiency up to 92%. The start-up voltage is guaranteedAqD嘉泰姆
below 1V. After start-up, the device can operate with inputAqD嘉泰姆
voltage down to 0.7V. The CXSU63133 is suitable for por-AqD嘉泰姆
table battery-powered applications. Consuming only 11μAAqD嘉泰姆

Inductor SelectionAqD嘉泰姆
The inductor value determines the inductor ripple currentAqD嘉泰姆
and affects the load transient response. It is recom-AqD嘉泰姆
mended to select the boost inductor in order to keep theAqD嘉泰姆
maximum peak inductor current below the current limitAqD嘉泰姆
threshold of the power switch. For example, the currentAqD嘉泰姆
limit threshold of the CXSU63133’s switch is 600mA. ForAqD嘉泰姆
choosing an inductor which has peak current passed,AqD嘉泰姆
firstly, it is necessary to consider the output load (IOUT),AqD嘉泰姆
input (VIN), and output voltage (VOUT). Secondly, the de-AqD嘉泰姆
sired current ripple in the inductor also needed to beAqD嘉泰姆
taken into account. The current was calculated in “OutputAqD嘉泰姆
Capacitor Selection”. Since the output ripple is the prod-AqD嘉泰姆
uct of the peak inductor current and the output capacitorAqD嘉泰姆
ESR, the larger inductor value reduces the inductor cur-AqD嘉泰姆
rent ripple and output voltage ripple but typically offers aAqD嘉泰姆

the main switch turns on and the inductor current rampsAqD嘉泰姆
up. The main switch turns off when the current reachesAqD嘉泰姆
the peak current limit of typical 600mA. The second crite-AqD嘉泰姆
rion that turns off the switch is the maximum on-time ofAqD嘉泰姆
4μs (typical). As the main switch is turned off, the syn-AqD嘉泰姆
chronous switch is turned on and delivers the current toAqD嘉泰姆
the output. The main switch remains off for a minimum ofAqD嘉泰姆
900ns (typical), or until the internal feedback voltage dropsAqD嘉泰姆
below the reference voltage. By the control scheme withAqD嘉泰姆
low quiescent current of 11μA (typical), the converter getsAqD嘉泰姆
high efficiency over a wide load range. AqD嘉泰姆
Start-UpAqD嘉泰姆
A startup oscillator circuit is integrated in the CXSU63133.AqD嘉泰姆
When the power is applied to the device, the circuit pumpsAqD嘉泰姆
the output voltage high. Once the output voltage reachesAqD嘉泰姆
1.4V (typ), the main DC-DC circuitry turns on and boostsAqD嘉泰姆
the output voltage to the final regulation point.AqD嘉泰姆
Synchronous RectificationAqD嘉泰姆
The internal synchronous rectifier eliminates the needAqD嘉泰姆
for an external Schottky diode, thus, reducing cost andAqD嘉泰姆
board space. During the cycle off-time, the P-channelAqD嘉泰姆
MOSFET turns on and shunts the MOSFET body diode.AqD嘉泰姆
As a result, the synchronous rectifier significantly improvesAqD嘉泰姆
efficiency without the addition of an external component.AqD嘉泰姆
Conversion efficiency can be as high as 92%. AqD嘉泰姆
Over-Temperature ProtectionAqD嘉泰姆
The over-temperature circuit limits the junction tempera-AqD嘉泰姆
ture of the CXSU63133. When the junction temperature ex-AqD嘉泰姆
ceeds 150°C, a thermal sensor turns off the powerAqD嘉泰姆
MOSFETs, allowing the devices to cool. The thermal sen-AqD嘉泰姆
sor allows the converter to start a start-up process andAqD嘉泰姆
regulate the output voltage again after the junction tem-AqD嘉泰姆
perature cools by 40°C. The OTP is designed with a 40°CAqD嘉泰姆
hysteresis to lower the average TJ during continuous ther-AqD嘉泰姆
mal overload conditions, increasing lifetime of the device.AqD嘉泰姆
