The CXSU63133 is a compact, PFM mode, and step-up9kW嘉泰姆

DC-DC converter with low quiescent current. The inter-9kW嘉泰姆
nal synchronous rectifier reduces cost and PCB space9kW嘉泰姆
by eliminating the need for an external Schottky diode.9kW嘉泰姆
Low on-resistance of the internal switches improves the9kW嘉泰姆
efficiency up to 92%. The start-up voltage is guaranteed9kW嘉泰姆
below 1V. After start-up, the device can operate with input9kW嘉泰姆
voltage down to 0.7V. The CXSU63133 is suitable for por-9kW嘉泰姆
table battery-powered applications. Consuming only 11μA9kW嘉泰姆

Inductor Selection9kW嘉泰姆
The inductor value determines the inductor ripple current9kW嘉泰姆
and affects the load transient response. It is recom-9kW嘉泰姆
mended to select the boost inductor in order to keep the9kW嘉泰姆
maximum peak inductor current below the current limit9kW嘉泰姆
threshold of the power switch. For example, the current9kW嘉泰姆
limit threshold of the CXSU63133’s switch is 600mA. For9kW嘉泰姆
choosing an inductor which has peak current passed,9kW嘉泰姆
firstly, it is necessary to consider the output load (IOUT),9kW嘉泰姆
input (VIN), and output voltage (VOUT). Secondly, the de-9kW嘉泰姆
sired current ripple in the inductor also needed to be9kW嘉泰姆
taken into account. The current was calculated in “Output9kW嘉泰姆
Capacitor Selection”. Since the output ripple is the prod-9kW嘉泰姆
uct of the peak inductor current and the output capacitor9kW嘉泰姆
ESR, the larger inductor value reduces the inductor cur-9kW嘉泰姆
rent ripple and output voltage ripple but typically offers a9kW嘉泰姆
larger physical size.9kW嘉泰姆

The converter monitors the output voltage. When the in-9kW嘉泰姆
ternal feedback voltage falls below the reference voltage,9kW嘉泰姆
the main switch turns on and the inductor current ramps9kW嘉泰姆
up. The main switch turns off when the current reaches9kW嘉泰姆
the peak current limit of typical 600mA. The second crite-9kW嘉泰姆
rion that turns off the switch is the maximum on-time of9kW嘉泰姆
4μs (typical). As the main switch is turned off, the syn-9kW嘉泰姆
chronous switch is turned on and delivers the current to9kW嘉泰姆
the output. The main switch remains off for a minimum of9kW嘉泰姆
900ns (typical), or until the internal feedback voltage drops9kW嘉泰姆
below the reference voltage. By the control scheme with9kW嘉泰姆
low quiescent current of 11μA (typical), the converter gets9kW嘉泰姆
high efficiency over a wide load range. 9kW嘉泰姆
Start-Up9kW嘉泰姆
A startup oscillator circuit is integrated in the CXSU63133.9kW嘉泰姆
When the power is applied to the device, the circuit pumps9kW嘉泰姆
the output voltage high. Once the output voltage reaches9kW嘉泰姆
1.4V (typ), the main DC-DC circuitry turns on and boosts9kW嘉泰姆
the output voltage to the final regulation point.9kW嘉泰姆
Synchronous Rectification9kW嘉泰姆
The internal synchronous rectifier eliminates the need9kW嘉泰姆
for an external Schottky diode, thus, reducing cost and9kW嘉泰姆
board space. During the cycle off-time, the P-channel9kW嘉泰姆
MOSFET turns on and shunts the MOSFET body diode.9kW嘉泰姆
As a result, the synchronous rectifier significantly improves9kW嘉泰姆
efficiency without the addition of an external component.9kW嘉泰姆
Conversion efficiency can be as high as 92%. 9kW嘉泰姆
Over-Temperature Protection9kW嘉泰姆
The over-temperature circuit limits the junction tempera-9kW嘉泰姆
ture of the CXSU63133. When the junction temperature ex-9kW嘉泰姆
ceeds 150°C, a thermal sensor turns off the power9kW嘉泰姆
MOSFETs, allowing the devices to cool. The thermal sen-9kW嘉泰姆
sor allows the converter to start a start-up process and9kW嘉泰姆
regulate the output voltage again after the junction tem-9kW嘉泰姆
perature cools by 40°C. The OTP is designed with a 40°C9kW嘉泰姆
hysteresis to lower the average TJ during continuous ther-9kW嘉泰姆
mal overload conditions, increasing lifetime of the device.9kW嘉泰姆
